Patriotism: The Insurrection of 2021

We have come to the place on the map marked, “Here be dragons.”

Update 9/23/2022: Why have I posted a political rallying cry against the big lie and Republican politicians as a Christian? I swore an oath many years ago when I joined the U. S. Army to defend the Constitution against ALL enemies, foreign and domestic. The U. S. does not release individuals from their oaths, only from their terms of service. As a Christian, I remain bound before God. We do not take oaths to defend individual politicians, but to uphold a nation under God. This is my legal patriotic activism in fulfillment of my oath. Too many Christians have gotten into a deal with the devil of late. Too many have traded their love for hate. Their good name and reputation in the long-term for respect and power in the short term. Too many have allied themselves with the Republican party and Donald Trump, when they should’ve allied themselves with Christ only and Him crucified. Bribery is what you’re guilty of when you turn away from someone’s wrongdoing in exchange for one or more goods or favors. Too many in the churches have allied with Trump and ignored his sins in exchange for justices on a bench. God has an opinion on that. Micah 3:11 speaks upon it. And then Micah 3:12 pronounces judgment because of it. A day of trouble is coming on account of people (mostly, but not all, men) such as these.

To put it plainly, a large number of churches have bargained away their good names by supporting an enemy of the U.S. Constitution, Donald Trump. The world hates them, but not for commendable reasons. If the world hated them because they truly followed Christ’s example, that would be something of worth. No, the world hates them because they bargained away the good name which took many generations to build. In the future, when someone tries to argue in defense of Christianity as a cause of love and force for good in the world, the Insurrection of 2021 will be as likely thrown in the faces of Christians as the Crusades, but these are events brought about in our present day, before the eyes of the world. This will not be brushed aside as easily as actions carried out by those long dead and forgotten. They do to the cause of Christ every bit as much harm as the Catholic priests who abuse children. They, in fact, cause the Name of God to become a curse.

The current attempts at insurrection in support of the pro-Trump lies will be remembered by history as the definitive moment of the evangelical churches in America. Make no mistake. The rhetoric that led to this moment was fostered and promoted by politicians seeking an easy route to power through manipulation of the masses. I list those who supported the events that led to the insurrection here that they may be remembered for their shameful ways by the American people in the hopes that they will be held accountable. Truly, I tell you, they will give an account one day, but I mean that they should lose their lofty positions after this. If a name appears on this list, it’s because they chose to serve the lie rather than their oaths and the good of American democracy. If their constituents demanded it, it’s only because these politicians helped support and promote Trump’s lies about a stolen, rigged election actively or through silence, and when the time came to show their true colors, they showed themselves to be traitors to everything they swore to uphold. These are oathbreakers, and history will recall them as such.
