Once Upon a Time: Tracing the Footsteps of Christ, Our Hero

Ed Myers is a Christian writer who lives in Michigan’s Upper Peninsula, where he finds inspiration for his personal blog (cupofchrist.net) in the surrounding sociopolitical, cultural, theological, and natural landscapes. He’s had many experiences from dishwasher to federal investigator, from autopsy technician to high school English teacher, but none have fit him so well as his present vocation, writing for the glory of God and the edification of His people. When not writing, he spends his time with his beautiful wife and their three wonderful children. He feels truly blessed.

Once Upon a Time: Tracing the Footsteps of Christ, Our Hero grew out of an experience I had in college. While speaking with a professor about archetypal literary theory, he said to me, “The problem with archetypal criticism is that, under it, all stories become one story.” I came away from that moment asking God, “What does it mean?” Answering that question took nearly two decades, requiring much research, prayer, and insight from God. In 2009, while on my way home from Atlanta, I had an experience with Christ, during which He showed me how all the stories in the Bible, and indeed all the world, ultimately reflect His Story. Further, He showed me, though much later, how part of what it means to be made in the image of God is to live out echoes and reflections of the Story of the Son, Who is the image of the Father. My book attempts to share the insights of my research with a Christian audience seeking a better understanding of many things, bringing back into our present knowledge much that we’ve forgotten as the Children of God.
